In line with the celebration of centennial anniversary of Mechanical Engineering education in the country, the Centennial committee conducted the One M.E. Symposium last November 29 at Casa Barbara, Intramuros.
The interuniversity event has the theme of "The State of Mechanical Engineering: Today and Beyond". Other than discussing the glorious past of ME, the seminar focuses on the future discoveries and opportunities in this field of learning. The General Symposium aimed to spindle a new revolution that will take the state of ME to greater pedestal. The glimpse of the next generation is explained to the students in a series of focused talks given by respected individuals in society.
The first plenary lecture is given by the committee advisor Dr. Manuel C. Belino. The former Dean of Mapúa Institute of Technology's (MIT) School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) discussed the value of Outcomes Based Education (OBE) in teaching the students. After his talk, Engr. Dela Cruz followed with his speech on revision of BSME curiculum in AY 2018-19. The changes in the education pattern is enacted as first batch of Senior High School graduates is enrolling in college.

In regards to career opportunities in the new millennia, Engr. Emmanuel Punzalan explained that Mechanical Engineering is more expanding and not limited to traditional means only. He explained that ME is becoming more interdisciplinary thus, opening new doors of collaboration with other fields. In order to utilize such prospects, Engr. Federico Monsada emphasized on importance of being an ASEAN and APEC Engineer. According to him, such international license allows engineers to practice their profession in member countries of such organizations fairly.
